Well in case you’re curious yes I did write a review for this past episode of RAW but for some reason I got logged out before I posted it and when I attempted to log back in I lost the entire entry.  There is no way I’m rewriting that thing.  In short I gave it a 7 out of 10.  It was a decent show.

I will reiterate that on the next couple reviews.

So back to TNA Impact.  They opened with some video footage promoting the main event of the night which is a attach match.  Not sure why this is so important.  After that was over Hogan’s music came on and he, Bischoff and Ms. Tessmacher came travel out.  They got to the ring and Hogan was first on the mic.  He called out the participants in the main event.  Mr. Anderson, The Pope D’Angelo Dinero, Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle.  What makes this particularly one-of-a-kind is they’re all babyfaces and they’re all immensely popular.  I’m not a huge fan of Jeff Hardy but I think the other guys are great.  Hogan took a moment to kiss all their asses and then Bischoff took a moment to speak about how controversial this upcoming attach match was going to be.  I don’t see what’s so controversial about it.  Abyss came out with that ridiculous 2 x 4.  He place it down and picked up a microphone instead then got in the ring and Hogan was kind enough to indicate that Abyss wasn’t invited.  Then there was some swift debate as to who “they” or “them” are.  Hogan indicating that its fourtune.  Abyss thankfully indicated that its not fourtune.  I am very glad about that.  But “they” superior be something exciting.  Abyss indicated that “They” would be revealing themselves on a date that only comes once a century 10-10-10.  That’s a pretty long wait.  And taking a swift look at a calendar its on a Sunday so we can only presume that its going to be on a PPV.  I have to question the logic in making this declaration shortly before another PPV.  It kind of deflates any excitement or anticipation of the upcoming PPV to make everyone think about the next one instead.

Abyss prefabricated some threats about “They” getting rid of existing TNA management and wrestlers when Jeff Hardy finally hit Abyss and the show very inconveniently went to commercial.  I like that it went to commercial when it did as it prefabricated it seem somewhat spontaneous and more real.  Even though I have to have to point out the slightly poor storytelling of making me wonder what the point of the get together would have been without Abyss coming out to surprise everyone.

When commercial was over there was some promoting of the upcoming PPV and when that was over there was some recapping of what happened with the beautiful people over the past couple weeks.  I have to criticize TNA for just not following up with what happened after the show went to commercial.

The following match was a attach match of Velvet Sky and Angelina Love of the BP versus President Rayne and the mystery motorcycle chick of the “Evil” Beautiful People.  The fighting started outside the ring before the match started.  Finally, after some drama in the middle of the ring where President nearly got whipped in the rear with a riding crop the match started.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the BP storyline TNA is running right now.  But its so simple to forget that for weeks now TNA has only had these four Knockouts.  The Knockouts was a huge draw for TNA and now it seems as though they’ve been forgotten about.  Motorcycle Mystery Chick used her giant motorcycle helmet as a weapon so that President could get the pin.  Then her and President decided to beat up on them some more.

OK, so here’s the huge reveal.  The Motorcycle chick was …… TARA!!  Not bad.  I really didn’t see it coming.  Of course I don’t read all the dirt sheets and stuff as I truly want to be surprised by what goes on when I watch this stuff.  If I remember correctly Tara left the company under loser leaves town rules.  Am I just supposed to pretend that no longer applies or will TNA be addressing this?  Tenay kind of prefabricated mention of the circumstances that Tara left under but because it was President that Tara lost the match to that got her fired does that mean that President can let her back in the company?

Stevie Richards cut a pretty good backstage promo.  This is a guy that TNA has used pretty much as comedy relief or as a jobber for quite some time.  Is TNA going to be giving him a near now?

There was some footage of Kurt Angle reviewing Abyss and the “They” that he keeps speaking about.  And also Mr. Anderson speaking about RVD being hurt by Abyss.

I wish I could predict Stevie Richards as the winner of the match he’s about to have with Abyss but I just can’t.  Disregarding outside interference Abyss will likely win.  Stevie however did attack Abyss outside the ring before the match started but it only took a minute for Abyss to get over, get both of them in the ring and get the match started.  So Abyss went out and grabbed a steel chair, he was about to use it when the ref attempted to intervene but as Abyss shoved the ref out of his way Stevie did the “Stevie Kick” to Abyss in the face.  Stevie got the win.  Nice.  Party didn’t last long as Abyss attacked Stevie.  They showed some footage of fourtune fighting EV2 in the back.  Abyss continued to beat up on Stevie a bit when he went out to grab that ridiculous 2 x 4.  A nice story twist Brian Kendrick came running out to rescue Stevie.  I didn’t see that coming.  I hope they wrote a good backstory for that.

Mr. Anderson had a good backstage promo that he started alone when the Pope interupted.  These two are great with a mic.  They really sold the trust issues that those two have with apiece other for the upcoming attach match they have to partner in.

After commercial some members of EV2 were in the ring for a promo.  Tommy Dreamer just took a moment to call out Fourtune.  They came out and AJ Styles spoke first and did really well.  AJ is making a far superior heel than I ever thought possible.  He not only did a good job of speaking trash but he also did a good job of promoting the PPV coming up this Sunday.  After Tommy Dreamer talked some more trash it was decided a 4 on 4 attach match was going to happen between Fourtune and EV2.  Will this be yet ANOTHER week that goes by where AJ doesn’t defend his television title?  Are we just supposed to forget he prefabricated that announcement?  And once again I really dislike these huge 4 on 4 style attach matches.  They’re not as exciting as TNA thinks they are.

When all that was over a backstage segment started with Jeff Jarrett trying to convince Samoa Joe to be in his corner again.  Samoa Joe stated no again.

After commercial another backstage segment of Nash and Sting travel backstage.  Sting really wants to mess with Jarrett.  And he’s anticipating another mortal to show up in the match.  Hogan I presume.  Jeff Jarrett tried defending why he was having this match with Sting and honestly it was like listening to a politician try to explain something without making any enemies.

For the Sting and Jarrett match I predict some outside interference from more than just Kevin Nash.  As for who TNA will have win its hard to predict but I’ll state Sting for the hell of it.  He came out with his makeup a tiny different than normal.  Red paint with some white blended in with the black.  Well, there was a lot of outside interference by Nash and Sting did win.  After the match was over Sting started choking Jarrett with his bat when Hogan came out.  When Sting got out of the ring to taunt Hogan Samoa Joe got in the ring and attacked Nash.  Then there was a huge stalemate and it was over.

Once again there was a confusing video segment promoting something called Shore.  I have no intent what that’s about.

I have to admit this Sunday’s PPV does sound pretty good.  Storyline wise there is nothing going on worth watching at all but the matches themselves sound promising.

After all that PPV promoting Brutus Magnus (in a ridiculous beret and sunglasses), Desmond Wolfe and Chelsea were all in the ring for a promo.  Desmonde got to brag first.  They’re bragging about being the ideal attach team in TNA ended and then the Motor City Machine Guns came out.  They got their turns to brag and make fun of Desmond and Brutus.  Both teams prefabricated some very slicing remarks towards apiece other.  It was impressive until Desmonde asked Chelsea to state what an awesome lover Desmonde was.  Chelsea more than insinuated that Desmonde isn’t very well endowed.  But while it seemed as though that was going to be a reason for Desmonde to kick Chelsea out of the ring, instead, after he acted all upset and offended at what she stated he turned and attacked the organisation guns.  The Londoners got over on the Guns.  Well done segment.  Ran a tiny long but it was good enough to not matter.

Another backstage segment.  I really dislike backstage segments.  Especially when they act like there isn’t a camera.  EV2 were speaking about something I couldn’t make out when Brian Kendrick entered their dressing room or whatever to offer his services.  EV2 started to decline his offer but he talked his way into it.  He’s going to be in the 4 on 4 match with EV2.

Another backstage segment with Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy.  Short and sweet.  But I still don’t like these segments.

For EV2 versus Fourtune I predict a win for Fourtune.  Now, I thought I was paying close attention but the announcers just indicated that this is an elimination style match.  I had no intent that was the concept. Overall, it has no storyline impact but I find this style of match much more pleasing so I’m glad of it.  Perhaps, its my mistake and I just didn’t notice them saying it was elimination before hand.  If I’m correct and they didn’t mention it then that is a huge mistake for TNA.  They need to be more specific.

Douglas Williams who is not in the match interfered and caused Sabu to be eliminated first.  For revenge Sabu did a suicide dive to Williams so I guess I can adopt he’s out of it now as they fight they’re way to the back.  Bryan Kendrick eliminated Kazarian with a clean pin.  After trying to choke AJ Styles a couple times and being stopped by the referee Brian Kendrick drop kicked the ref out of the ring.  Everyone just started brawling as other referees came out to check on the original.  Foley came out onto the entrance ramp and Robert Roode got beer sprayed in his grappling as they went to commercial.  I think it was beer anyway as Tenay’s brilliant commentating of, “Oh, right in the face!!” wasn’t exactly terribly descriptive.

When commercial was over a new ref was in the ring and Bryan Kendrick was disqualified for his drop kicking of the previous ref.  The match was already in progress though without Bryan in it.  Abyss came out to ring side and just as Rhino was about to get his second gor he instead leapt out and attacked Abyss and got himself counted out.  Abyss and Rhino fought their way to the back.

Tommy Dreamer eliminated both of Beer Money pretty much back to back leaving just AJ and Dreamer one on one. After some wrestling between the two of them with some great submission moves and AJ performing an astonishing standing drop kick, there was some near outside interference that acted as more of a distraction and AJ performed that Pele Kick and won the match.

It was a somewhat decent match.  It told the story it needed to tell.  I hate Rhino as a wrestler so watching him get counted out prefabricated a lot of sense and pretty much shows that’s really all his character is good for.  EV2 sure is struggling to make their way and it isn’t going to sell much EV2 merchandise if they keep losing but I’m sure they’ll make up for it all at the upcoming PPV.

Next, the main event started with Mr. Anderson and the Pope versus Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy.  This is difficult to predict a win for.  But I’ll go with Anderson and the Pope.  I kind of doubt there will be a clean win in this match but here’s hoping TNA will surprise me.  Throughout the match Anderson and the Pope really sold the trust issues some more.  They’re telling a good story.  Jeff Hardy performed the whisper in the wind move but got his own partner instead and then Anderson performed the Mic Check on Hardy, allowing the Pope to get the win.  A clean win, so that was a pleasant surprise.  Now here is another moment of poor story telling in my opinion.  The announcers tried to sell the fact that the Pope stole the pin because it was Mr. Anderson who performed the finisher and therefore Anderson should have performed the pin, but that makes no sense as the Pope was the legal man and should have been the only one healthy to do so.  So while the commentators are telling me what to think, to have the wrestlers a moment later get in apiece other’s faces about this issue just isn’t realistic to me.  To have Anderson attack the Pope over that doesn’t make any sense at all.  But that’s what they did.  Then Hardy and Angle started fighting about the whisper in the wind error that Hardy made.  Security intervened and the show was over.

The match calibre was great.  The storyline logic needs help.  I really dislike backstage segments where they pretend there is no camera.  Its been a pet peeve of mine for years.  But the promos where they acknowledged the camera was there were great.  I would love to have Quality Control over TNA.  Overall I give the show a 6 out of 10.

They billed it as the “whole f’n show.”  Bragging that they would have pay-per-view calibre matches for free.  Honestly, i think this is a great idea.  The downside is that it’s just this week when it should be each week.  Don’t get me wrong i know the downsides of giving away great matches for free but this is all in attempt at providing true competition to the WWE.  So I hope the they decide to bill each week like this.  They have the talent as their roster truly is huge.

The Beer Money vs The Motor City Machine guns was a mythologic 2 our of 3 falls match.  When a match like that is announced you know that there is no way that it won’t actually go 3 falls.  Beer Money got the first start after what anyone would have considered a decent match.  No one could have had a legitimate complaint if the match had ended that way.  But again they had 2 more falls to go.  The match went on for quite some time before the Motor City Machine Guns finally got the other 2 falls.  This match was the end of a ideal of five series where TNA used a different gimick in each match.  I see a lot of complaints about gimicks being used too much in TNA and I disagree that they’re used too much so much as some of the gimicks are stupid.  These gimicks were needed and well done.  The fans loved the matches.  At one point they started chanting “This is wrestling!!”  To those who don’t know they were basically stating that other wrestling companies (WWE) don’t focus on the wrestling aspect of the show as much as they, the fans, would like.

Rob Van Dam (RVD) vs Abyss in a hardcore match with a 2 x 4 with a bunch of nails drive through one end was suspended from the ceiling and the first mortal to climb a harm and get it could use it as a weapon.  This is an example of a stupid gimick.  The 2 x 4 will never be seen used on television.  Stop trying to act like abyss is actually ever going to hit anybody with that thing.  It would kill just about anyone or at least give them serious lock jaw.  The match itself was evenhandedly decent.  Lots of violence and fast action.  At one point i truly thought that RVD had really messed himself up.  He was knocked out of the ring when he fell off the top of a toppling ladder.  He hit yet another harm outside the ring in a very awkward fashion and I was surpised that he got back up and continued the match.  Kudos to RVD for being a bad ass.  There were two questionable moments in the match.  At one point Abyss was sitting in a corner and RVD puts a plateau or board wrapped in barbed wire against Abyss’s body so that he could in a moment drop kick the plateau and in theory injured Abyss.  This was stupid.  I couldn’t suspend my disbelief at this point at Abyss was pretty much holding the plateau in place so that RVD could do it.  Trust me when i state that RVD did it beautifully and for that it was worth watching.  But again silly.  The other stupid moment was when the 2 x 4 came in to play and once again Abyss swings and misses and hits a turn buckle then pretends the nails from the board are stuck in the turnbuckle and he can’t get it out.  Sorry, but this part was awful.

AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle.  These two are arguably the two ideal in the business right now and I state that as a Mr. Anderson fan.  They place on a fantastic match.  Sadly, I think everyone watching knew that Kurt Angle was going to win but even ignoring that the athletecism was still amazing.  On a individualized note I had recommended to TNA that they change the Global Championship to the television title and they did.  But its already losing merit.  How do we have a weekly show with no television title match?  Hogan or someone in TNA should have told AJ later that he would have to defend the belt later.  Essentially him having a second match that night which he would win.  Building the television title up as a belt worth having and putting AJ over for having had two matches on one show.  But I wasn’t asked my view on that one.

I am starting to feel sorry for the TNA Knockouts.  The fans were really starting to near TNA for the high calibre women’s division they had.  Notice i used past tense.  There essentially is no division anymore.  It’s pretty much 5 women one of which is wearing a motor cycle helmut.  The matches themselves are also starting to be throw away.  Let’s get back to when the women’s wrestling is what people were speaking about.  Let me see Roxxi vs Daphne with the beautiful people inteferring and then Roxxi and Daphne have to team up to take on the beautiful people.  that’s 4 matches right there if you do it right.  maybe even 6 matches.

Ultimate Warrior had been that kind of a guy who would pick controversies in a matter of moment.

His career has been through crests and troughs where he always wanted to dominate the proceedings.

Ultimate Warrior was different, there’s no question about it.

He was a character of his own. His decision to leave professional wrestling was partly forced upon him.

There was a time when there were no takers. World Wrestling Federation (WWF) walked out of the deal with him. And he was left stranding, on the sidelines.

If you were to pick one major reason why Ultimate Warrior left professional wrestling, then it has to be Ultimate Warrior’s conduct and attitude.

It all started in the year 1990, when Ultimate Warrior defeated Hulk Hogan to win World Wrestling Championship.

The reign lasted for few months.

In a wrestling bout against Slaughter, Warrior was defeated. Warrior was deeply upset with the loss, as he felt he was unfairly prefabricated to lose the match.

He wanted a rematch against slaughter, that’s where it all began. Warrior was denied a chance to square things up.

The animosity stayed on Warrior’s mind. He was particularly disappointed with the whole episode.

The matter fueled again, as he was involved in a pay dispute with Vince McMahon, the WWF boss. Things didn’t work out, and Ultimate Warrior was out of the show piece event. That was the first break that he had in WWF.

He returned couple of more times to WWF, but Warrior was never comfortable with Vince McMahon. He somehow used to get entangle in issues that was never in the ideal interests of WWF.

In a major turnaround, Warrior decided to join World Championship of Wrestling (WCW) in1998. That was the final nab in the coffin to his controversial career.

The final match at the WCW is billed as one of the worst matches of WCW where he was thrashed by Hulk Hogan. The crowds didn’t swell up.

The WCW then, wanted to get rid of Warrior, and they wanted to negotiate a compensation deal with Warrior. But Warrior, as he was, shrugged aside those ideas.

It was then WCW called off negotiations with him. They rubbed him off, and he was never called to perform.

Ultimate Warrior was too hot to handle for the organizers, and that’s probably the reason why everybody washed hands off him. Warrior was forced to cut short his wrestling career.

Nobody wanted to have him in their camp. It was his attitude that prefabricated him suffer.

With no takers, Ultimate Warrior announced his retirement from professional wrestling in 1998. Ten years later, fans again saw Warrior against Orlando Jordan, but it was only for a single match.

He was no more interested to go ahead and take a dig at opponents.

His era was over.

Wrestling fans all crossways the world will remember Ultimate Warrior as the one who brought aggressiveness into the game. His run up to the ring will always leave a lasting impression on the minds of those who saw him to do that.

A Perspective: The New Truth About Professional Wrestling

Don’t ask me if wrestling is real or Not! That is causerie for another fitting day. For a moment, forget the stated rumors on wrestling and sit down and look at this sport that is by virtue a spectacle. Professional wrestling is much more than a relic of a favorite human past time activity, it has evolved to involve wrestling schools , script writers and mega corporations like the World wrestling Entertainment [WWE]. Intrigue has become the study of the game, more than the portrayal of brutal violence in the ring, as sideshows take center stage.

>

Some fans have noted this change with dismay, ” professional wrestling nowadays is more speak and less bite. What happened to the good ol’ fight?” they ponder out aloud. However, truth can be stranger than fiction as attested by the surprising fact that the numbers of followers of news, intrigues and results from the world of pro wrestling continues to grow. An indication of the world’s love for violence? Or a mirror of competitive nature of humankind. The survival of the fittest, that is what Charles Darwin described it as.

The skepticism can be excused. In an hour of pay per view [PPV] television, the new trend in sports marketing and broadcasting, ‘ a real match’ in the ring might contribute a paltry a third of total time . The remainder is spread between advertising wrestling merchandise and the nearly sorry acting of wrestlers acting out different roles in matters corporate rivalry, business competition and perspectives on the wrestlers own measures of career and individualized satisfaction.

In spite of this pragmatic shift, the allure of professional wrestling lies in its embodiment of competition and the portrayal of the apiece day human experience of battling and dealing with rivals.
